Note: Sue Sabiston is a water color artist who collaberated with me on the "The Bluff", which is a book, a ghost story I wrote and published. Sue did all the illustrations for the book, which took her over two-and-half years to complete. (Her gallery is located on the side bar of this website.)

"Nightfall"
by
Joseph Gunther 93'

Midnight wind is were I dwell,
With riders lost in a storms spell.
Trusting neither regions of the land,
While fires of night burn in their hands.
Groping, grasping, pleading voices,
Ask questions, but make different choices.
I alone remain vigilant within their presence,
with secrets revealed in all there essence,

(You will find the rest of the poem in my book, "The Bluff")

The Bluff

A ghost story by - Joseph Gunther
Illustrations by - Sue Sabiston

The Bluff is a 32 page fully illustrated Gothic horror story.  Based on a true story, this haunting tale will send shivers up and down the spine of most people, while others will be touched by the tragic events - perhaps even shedding a tear or two.  A great story with spectacular illustrations that can be enjoyed by young and old alike, especially 8 to 12 year old readers.  Also included in the "The Bluff" - is a 85 year old (true and tragic) family mystery that was finally solved.

This book is different from other illustrated children's books. There are ten illustrated water-color paintings between its covers. It took Susan Sabiston two-and-half years to do all of the water-color illustrations in this book.

Which means (on average) it took Sue three months to complete one water-color painting for the book. So the book itself is a work of art!
Also there were only a limited number of these books printed so each one will become a collectors item increasing in value as time goes by!

Reviews of "The Bluff"

Arlene Spizman, owner of The Comic Shop says; "I was impressed when I saw the book. It's a beautifully illustrated story that fits right in with our graphic novels, children's books and comics. Telling a story through sequential art is obviously what comic books are all about and The Bluff does that in its own unique way!"

Bill Riley, the owner of"rivers end bookstore" in Oswego, NY say's: "The Bluff is timeless, it will always be enjoyed over and over again by people who read it!"

Note: Bill Riley choose to read "The Bluff", at the Minetto Elementary School in Oswego, NY the story captivated an audience of over 300 students, parents, and teachers.
